That’s funny. Maybe they just didn’t notice? When I was there and started to pump my own gas (being from out-of-state), they stopped me and took over, but it wasn’t like the pumps were locked or anything. I did see that stations turned off the pumps after-hours, when they didn’t have anyone to pump fuel…

I’m from a US state where we don’t pump our own gas.
You can just say New Jersey. After Oregon lifted its ban in 2023, it’s the only one left!

This could still absolutely be orchestrated to rehab Musk’s image, but there’s no way it will “fix his stocks”. For the most part, the only people who would be caught dead buying Teslas recently were MAGA freaks. And now he’s alienated them with his feud with Dear Leader. After the share price was already falling and Teslas sales were down over 70%, at least in the US. I think it will truly nosedive now…

Well, you have to be connected to Wi-Fi (or have the mobile version) to “Whispersync” initially, but once it’s on there, you can read it offline, delete it, send it to the cloud, etc. It does open the browser if you want to archive or favorite it to your Pocket account, but you could do that when you have service again, or just not use that functionality…

Is there anything similar?

Turns out all the cameras and sensors weren’t good enough, so they paid thousands of people in India to watch videos and correct checkouts. They basically just outsourced the position of cashier, while pretending it was all done automatically!

The “correction” was simply me clarifying my own experience. But that image is genuinely amusing. I’ve driven through so many towns that look exactly like it!

But the *first is absolutely typical, in my experience. In small rural towns, the “downtown” is concentrated like this (maybe with 1 fewer floor, and narrower roads). I’ve seen this exact scene in multiple smaller towns, literally all over the US…
