Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are some people too stupid to feel depressed?6·4 days agoI don’t think so, but maybe in the extremes. There’s some people with such low IQ they have difficulty following cooking instructions on a microwave meal. It might be possible to have such limited capacity that they’re immune to depression.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•My mom tells me I should cut dad off for cheating on her, am I a bad person for not wanting to do so?121·5 days agoYeah i can see wanting to do it of your own volition, my brother went the same way, but having one parent ask that of you is something else.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can a person use AI or whatever and get rid of their name and history off the net? And can it create a new ident with a bunch of history pictures and so forth?2·6 days agoThe Internet doesnt remember that one very spicy video you found
Yeah wo/mxn imagine having a time machine
Edited to fix pronouns likely to cause offence
It was the part where they said (voting for more genocide) that made me think they said either of those. Sorry. I’ll work on my reading comprehension I guess.
No i was more thinking that because she’s become the face of planetary eco-warriorism she’ll have started to internalise the concept that she has plot armor. Which isn’t real in real life.
So when someone doesnt vote they’re the problem, and when they do vote they’re the problem?
How’s the average person supposed to do anything?
Im just saying nobody with all their marbles would seriously believe it will end in anything but their own death.
The amount of stuff she’s been involved in she definitely has main character syndrome and fully believes this’ll work out well.
I don’t want it to sound like im belittling the effort. Its brave as all shit and the best cause I can think of, but still.
YMMV there, a lot (like a disturbing amount) of sleep paralysis sufferers report a hag coming to sit on their chest making breathing hard. I’ve never met her and I’m so glad I didn’t.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is their any evolutionary benefit to the sneezing reflex when looking at a bright light source, or is it just an evolutionary glitch with no purpose?4·7 days agoMaybe it’s a thing that only certain people do, like rolling your tongue. Looking at a bright light doesnt make me sneeze, and until just now I thought it was just an old wives tale, like remedies for curing hiccups. Doesn’t work but widely believed.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I have an acquaintance that have their own "password system" that involves having a "core" set of characters, plus a few unique characters for each site; Is that system safe?4·7 days agoIts secure enough for the average person. If your friend was a big deal, super rich or powerful and a massive target it would be easy enough to figure out.
I doubt it would be worthwhile trying to crack that particular code for the average joe.
In my experience you can still control your breathing. I like to try breathing morse code as loud as I can. It makes me feel a little better that Im doing all I can, even if it’s next to nothing.
Recurring theme, hard to pick the scariest, but there’s a shape-shifter after me, like the liquid terminator or something. I know what it is, it thinks I know but might not be able to catch me. It tries to get close to me while I try to get away without letting on that I know. Really socially tense and my life is on the line.
Scariest one was the first time I remember having it. My dad took the dog for a big walk and drove off in the car. A couple minutes later my dad walks in the house without a car, staring eye contact at me, absolutely neutral expression, and walking slowly towards me. I ask where the dog is and he doesnt even respond, just walks back out the room and reappears immediately with the dog on the lead, also staring at me. I don’t remember how that one ends, but they got more convoluted and cat-and-mousey after that. Sometimes I got away and sometimes it caught me and stabbed me up.
Now any time anyone starts acting strange around me I always pinch my nose to see if im dreaming. I haven’t had that dream for about 15 years but it sticks with me.
Would-be assassin’s have realised he’s protected by a supernatural force and it’s not a good idea to get on the wrong side of such things.
I’m stuck on this rock with people like that. The worst part is they speak with such confidence and authority that their opinions will carry more weight than mine in the real world.
I despair.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there any romance movies where there is a male protagonist who is a part of the manosphere?2·8 days agoDoes Superbad count?
Its in no way a romance, but the entire adventure is fuelled by the quest to get laid.
Yermaw@lemm.eeto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the dumbest way you've sustained an injury, and what was the injury?3·8 days agoI badly bruised (i still insist broke but the xray said otherwise) my foot by dropping a 20kg block of frozen chicken on it. Explained to the nurse i dropped a block of frozen chicken on it, forgetting that she didn’t have the context of the meat factory, and she gave me such a withering look of “what a pussy” and walked off before i could finish explaining.
Was limping for about a year…
The display being at a higher resolution doesnt help either. Running retro games on my fancy flatscreen hi-def massive TV makes them look and feel so much worse than on the smaller fuzzy CRT screens of the time.
I can’t stand modern games with lower frame rates. I had to give up on Avowed and a few other late titles on the series S because it makes me feel sick when turning the camera. I assume most of the later titles on xbox will be doing this as theyre starting to push what the systems are capable of and the series S can’t really cope as well.
