The one I always remember is from when I was a kid, probably about 8-10 years old.

It’s basically just this. I was on a bridge over a river (not a huge bridge or a huge river) and I somehow knew that my younger brother had fallen into the water, and I jump down and the water is only about thigh deep and I’m searching and searching in this muddy water, pulling it apart frantically with my hands, and I just can’t find him, and it goes on and on. I can still see it vividly. Deeply unsettling.

Possibly yeah. Although these are villages you’d drive through in about 5 seconds, so no matter where the pin is put it’s not going to be 2 miles different. Maybe it’s starting in a different place though, that might do it. Cheers, will check that out.

Good idea, but I’ve tried overlaying closer zoomed in screengrabs and the routes appear to be absolutely identical! So weird.

‘Better’ is a subjective judgement - for me the answer is absolutely not, I’ll always prefer a real physical book.

For others the answer will be yes, and for yet others it’ll be maybe or sometimes.

There’s no objectively true answer to the question though.

If they pay to power it with sustainable energy then it doesn’t. Simple as that. Energy use is really not a problem.

It is if doing so means taking up existing capacity in sustainable energy.

If they were always adding new sustainable capacity specifically for their data centres, that would be one thing, but if all they do is pay for the use of existing capacity, that potentially just pushes the issue down the road a bit.

If/when there’s enough capacity to supply all homes and businesses then this issue would disappear, but I don’t know how close that is.
